Hino South Africa recently provided support for a fourth mountain bike ride linked to conservation through the P.E.A.C.E. Foundation, an NGO which fulfils the People part of ERP (Elephants, Rhinos and People), which seeks to preserve and protect elephants and rhinos living in the wild in South Africa through a strategy based on rural poverty alleviation.The project has already provided more than 1 000 bicycles to learners from the Barokologadi community, living adjacent to the Melorane Game Reserve in the North-West Province. The strategy is to improve access to education and thereby address poverty which is a root cause of poaching and the destruction of wildlife habitat.Hino provided support in the form of a Hino 300 Hybrid truck with a van body which transports the donated bikes from Pretoria to the game reserve for distribution as well as providing back-up for a group of cyclists who cycle four days from Centurion to the reserve, with the most recent route covering 342 km. The company then supplies Toyota Quantum minibuses to transport the riders back to the starting point.The #BIKES4ERP project, known as the Tour de Melorane, is the brainchild of two associates from EPI-USE, an international IT company based in Pretoria. Nicolai van der Merwe and late Gert Vermeulen, two keen cyclists, began the project in 2016. Unfortunately, Gert lost his life in 2021 when Gert was shot while cycling in Centurion, so the continuation of the project is dedicated to keeping Gert’s dream alive.The objective of donating bicycles is so that learners can get to school far easier and quicker than walking from far flung villages and that their education will help uplift the local communities. Usage of the bikes is monitored by the relevant schools and the project owners. #BIKES4ERP have trained three mechanics in the area who are paid a monthly salary and continuously supplied with tools and spare parts to repair the bikes when necessary.Hino got involved for the first time in 2024 and continued in 2025 and this year there have been two of these rides, one in May and a second in August. Hino once again used this project to promote its fuel-efficient, diesel-electric hybrid 300-Series truck, which is undergoing evaluation in South Africa currently for possible introduction in the future.“We are proud of our ongoing support for this innovative conservation project which also gives us the opportunity of hosting customers on the ride,” commented Anton Falck, the Hino SA Vice President and himself a keen mountain biker. “This latest ride saw a group of 20 riders complete a demanding route with the worthwhile reward at the end of seeing the big smiles when the donated bicycles are handed over to the learners.”Ends

Many women in South Africa are now playing important roles in industries that were previously seen as part of a “man’s world”. Trucking is one of these and today women have roles in all aspects of this important contributor to people mobility and goods transport.Hino South Africa is one of those local companies where women are playing increasingly meaningful roles in overall management and operations.Dikeledi Mjilo is a good example. She is a Principal Engineer at the assembly plant in Prospecton, near Durban, having held this position at Hino for the past nine years. She reached this position after coming through the ranks, starting as a graduate trainee.During the previous four years Dikeledi worked in the Production Engineering and Planning Department which supports the various disciplines in the assembly plant. This included projects in the Hino operational area, where these people were her customers in terms of tooling, equipment and facility requirements. Now she is part of that team!“Honestly, I never imagined I would work for a major truck manufacturer, but I am proud of how, unexpectedly, my career journey has unfolded,” commented Dikeledi.“My role at Hino is to ensure we build high-quality trucks safely, on time and as cost effectively as possible. These goals are achieved by using tools such as time studies, line balancing, continuous improvement (Kaizen), ergonomic risk assessments, defect reduction processes and root cause analysis.“I derive a great deal of enjoyment from my career, particularly the interaction with team members on the shop floor, such as finding out the challenges they face in performing their various tasks and then supporting them to improve and optimise their operations. Seeing them happy makes me happy too!“I am particularly proud to be a member of the Hino team at the assembly plant and find personal reward in knowing that the work I do is contributing to building reliable trucks that will keep businesses moving, while giving me the opportunity to grow, learn, and ensure what I do makes a meaningful, positive impact on eventual outcomes,” she added.Dikeledi says there have been several milestones in her career to date. These began when she graduated with a cum laude for one of her qualifications while studying part time with a newborn baby and adapting to married life. Then came being part of the project team that successfully moved Hino production to its current site, followed by completing a management development programme which introduced her to self-mastery, deep introspection and learning to lead from within.Married, with three beautiful children, Dikeledi is active in community work after working hours as part of a team initiated by a fellow Hino worker. They support different needs in various communities ranging from providing school shoes to pupils to building and furnishing a house for old folk.“Above all else, my most important milestone occurs daily and that is coming to work and being happy while contributing to the outputs of an inclusive team in a healthy environment,” concluded Dikeledi.Another woman making a difference at Hino SA is Shanaaz Khan, who has been Fleet Manager for the past four years after beginning her career with the company in 2013 as an Administrative Clerk and Personal Assistant. She subsequently progressed to the position of Assistant Manager: Administration, Sales and Tenders in 2017 and was promoted to Fleet Manager in 2022.“During my varied career I have developed a strong understanding for business ethics, dealer network operations, sales administration and customer service, all of which prepared me for my current position. As Fleet Manager I am responsible for managing strategic fleet accounts, developing customer relationships, supporting the dealer network in developing fleet business, identifying business growth opportunities and driving sales in the fleet environment,” explained Shanaaz.“I certainly did not envisage a career path that has seen me now filling an important position at Hino. My focus when I began working was on gaining experience, developing my skills and making meaningful contributions to the company when opportunities arose. Joining Hino in 2013 opened the door to an industry I quickly became passionate about and my passion grew as I progressed through various roles in the company.“I am particularly proud to be part of the Hino team as it is a brand known for quality, reliability and customer focus. There is a strong sense of teamwork and collaboration in the Hino family which makes for a rewarding working environment. The most enjoyable part of my work is the opportunity to build and maintain meaningful relationships with customers, dealers and colleagues,” commented Shanaaz.She says there have been several important milestones along her career path with the completion of her Marketing Management NQF Level qualification being one of them.“My major milestones have come from helping people grow, succeed and create better futures for themselves. This trend continues in my life outside work. Besides being part of a blended family with eight children, my fiancé and I fostered a two-year-old toddler when his mother was struggling with drug addiction and subsequently had the mother placed in a rehabilitation centre. We continue to work with the centre and other community activities aimed at helping individuals with substance abuse.“I am especially grateful to Hino for valuing employee development and providing opportunities for continuous learning and career advancement,” concluded Shanaaz.Samantha Visagie holds a senior position at Hino South Africa as the Senior Manager of Hino Sales and Dealer Network. Having stepped into this role 7 months ago, she continues to bring both strategic precision and an inclusive, approachable energy to the team.Samantha’s professional journey began when she was awarded an engineering bursary, which paved the way for her to join Toyota SA Motors (TSAM). She embarked on her career as a graduate trainee at the HiAce assembly plant in Prospecton, where she gained invaluable hands-on experience from the very start.Her career progressed to Engineering Manager for HiAce Assembly and Logistics, where her interest in commercial segment start. She went on to graduate with distinction in a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management and subsequently earned her MBA from the prestigious Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS).Samantha’s career once again progressed from a stint in Human Resource Development and Talent Management to the Hino Assembly Plant, where she was responsible for truck production and spearheaded the successful 2022 launch of the new Hino 700 series, a milestone achieved after the plant’s pioneering post-flood restart, she subsequently moved into Business Planning as Senior Manager and has most recently relocated to Sandton to join the Hino Sales and Marketing team.“My career has significantly exceeded my expectations. I never imagined reaching a management level, making my current position at a leading South African truck manufacturer a truly rewarding achievement. My journey here has been defined by multiple rotations, and rather than simply adapting, I’ve learned to truly embrace change, finding energy in hands-on, practical learning.“In my current role, I’m passionate about driving Hino South Africa’s annual sales success across our dealer network. That means getting creative with incentive and Sales support programmes to stay ahead of the competition, while also sharpening our dealers’ operational efficiency. I take genuine pride in upholding our franchise standards, ensuring every dealer not only meets compliance but reflects the very best of our brand,” added Samantha.“Beyond the numbers, I genuinely enjoy encouraging collaboration as part of the Hino Dealer Council, bridging the gap between our dealers and leadership. WOMEN PLAYING A GROWING ROLE IN SA’S TRUCKING INDUSTRY AND HINO IS VERY ACTIVE IN THIS SPHERE

Hino South Africa will offer a special deal on 700-Series truck tractors at the Nampo Cape 2026 agricultural show, to be held in Bredasdorp from the 9th to 12th of September. This is considered the foremost agricultural exhibition and trade event in the Western Cape.The Hino 700 410 and 450 horsepower models will be available with a 6-year warranty and 6-year service plan included from a starting price of R1.9 million. The 700 truck tractor will be among five Hino trucks on display at the show. “This will be a limited ‘while stocks last’ offer,” explained Hino SA General Manager Itumeleng Segage. “This offer permits customers to tailor solutions to meet specific farming and business needs, with Hino trucks renowned for quality, durability and reliability. The offer is not limited to Nampo Cape but is available at all 63 Hino dealers countrywide.”The other Hino trucks that will be on display are a 500-2836 with a cattle body, a 300-916, also fitted with a cattle body, and a Hino 200 with a drop-side body. A recent addition to the wide range of offerings from Hino SA which is being promoted at the show is Hino Care Gap Cover, which was launched earlier this year. This new product has been designed to complement the 6-year drivetrain warranty and will replace the previous Hino Extended Warranty programme.Hino Care Gap Cover offers customers broader and improved warranty protection on listed components, including enhanced coverage for aspects such as towing, cooling systems and electrical components. These improvements have been introduced without increasing the price to the customer and will be available at the same price point as the previous extended warranty offering.“This initiative reflects our ongoing focus on delivering greater value and peace of mind for our customers,” added Segage.ENDS

Hino South Africa has recently come out top in two important national surveys conducted this year.Hino was, once again, the only truck manufacturer to collect a Platinum Award at the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) Dealer Satisfaction Index (DSI) awards presentation in Johannesburg. This was the sixth consecutive year that Hino has collected a Platinum award.This was the 30th year that NADA has conducted its Dealer Satisfaction Index survey, which is independently researched by Lightstone and provides an objective measure of the business relationship between the brand and its dealers in the retail sector. Manufacturers were assessed by their dealers across three key areas, dealer friendly (20%), investor friendly (40%) and customer friendly (40%).The initial DSI survey, in 1996, was conducted among seven manufacturers and this year 36 brands were in contention, and attracted 1 610 dealer responses, with 181 of them being in the truck and bus category, which equated to 80% of these dealers in South Africa.“We are delighted that Hino has not only collected a Platinum Award in NADA’s DSI survey, but the fact that it was for the sixth successive year shows consistency in our dealings with the dealer network,” said Anton Falck, Vice President of Hino SA.“We sincerely believe that Staff satisfaction and Dealer satisfaction are important drivers towards Customer satisfaction and the continued success of our business and brand in South Africa. We thank our dealers for confirming that we are on the right track and continue to Kaizen the areas that can be improved.”In addition, Hino SA not only came out top in the combined score but also topped all three categories – Sales, Service and Parts – for the second quarter of 2026 in the quarterly Datatrack survey, which measures transport operators’ satisfaction with 14 truck brands sold in South Africa.Hino headed the combined scoring with a total of 99.23, with the second-placed company on 97.62. This was the 13th consecutive quarter, since Q1 in 2023, where Hino has held top position on combined score. In Q2 of 2026 Hino also topped the sales category with a score of 99.32, the Service category with 99.80 and Parts with 98.56.“We are proud to have achieved even better than our target of 95 in each of the categories, which underlines the ongoing support we provide to our customers in line with Hino’s international strategy of Total Support, which is built on strong working relationships with all in the value chain,” explained Falck.This return to top spot in the Parts category came after a couple of quarters where Hino was not the leader due to a temporary setback with logistics as a strategic decision saw our replacement parts being supplied from Hino Motors in Japan whereas they previously came through Hino Motors Europe, based in Belgium.“This allowed us to strengthen our logistics capabilities, while identifying critical stock requirements and increasing our stock holding by an additional month to support long-term supply stability,” explained Anton Falck. “These actions have placed us in a stronger position to achieve our target allocation fill rate of 96%.”&nbsp;ENDS

HINO SOUTH AFRICA TOPS TWO NATIONAL SURVEYS IN 2026

Hino South Africa has, once again, been awarded prestigious global awards from Hino Motors Limited (HML) that reaffirm its position as a leader in aftersales support within the commercial vehicle industry.
The awards, for 2025, were announced at a recent global distributor function in Japan and those won by Hino SA were an Excellence Award in the Service Distributor of the Year category and Distributor of the Year in the Parts Distributor section. This is the 13th time in the past 14 years that Hino SA has received these accolades.
The awards are based on specific criteria set by HML with a minimum score of 80% for the year required to receive the prize, with each distributor being scored monthly.
Among the criteria for the service award are customer experience ratings and workshop throughput as well as the profitability of Hino SA and its dealer network. The parts award measures include customer experience ratings, managing the supply of parts on first request, stockholding and emergency parts supply by Hino SA and its dealers.
The awards are part of an ongoing Hino programme to recognise distributors who consistently deliver outstanding performances in key areas with sustained adherence to Hino&rsquo;s global Total Support philosophy. Central to this strategy are maximising vehicle uptime, reducing the total cost of ownership, ensuring &ldquo;fix-it-right-first time&rdquo; service delivery while maintaining high parts availability at competitive prices.
These international achievements are further supported by strong local market recognition. Here Hino SA has consistently demonstrated leadership in dealer and customer engagement, driven by ongoing Kaizen (continuous improvement) initiatives aimed at enhancing the overall Hino ownership experience.
&ldquo;We at Hino South Africa are very proud of our ongoing strong performances in the local Datatrack quarterly customer care survey of 13 truck brands. We were again in first position in Q1 2026 in the combined ranking for sales, service, and parts with a total of 99.69, which was well above the national average of 95.76,&rdquo; stated Anton Falck, Vice President of Hino S.A.
This was the 12th consecutive quarter, since Q1 2023, where Hino has held the coveted No. 1 spot with the results based on input provided by the 30&nbsp;000 local truck operators surveyed. This highly rated survey by Datatrack has been undertaken for the past 38 years and is well respected in the industry and among local truck customers.
