Hino South Africa has won a Platinum Award in the Commercial Vehicle Segment of the National Automobile Dealers Association Dealer Satisfaction Index (DSI) survey for the fifth year running.

Hino South Africa has won a Platinum Award in the Commercial Vehicle Segment of the National Automobile Dealers Association Dealer Satisfaction Index (DSI) survey for the fifth year running. It was the only truck manufacturer or importer to gain a Platinum Award for having an average score above 85%. Three companies received Gold Awards and there was one Silver and two Bronze awards.

This annual survey, of which this was the 21st, measures the dealers’ relationship with their manufacturer of importer and its methodology has been validated against similar contests held elsewhere in the world.

Building strong relationships between Hino Japan, Hino South Africa, the dealer network, and, most importantly, the customers, has been the backbone of Hino’s continued ability to satisfy demands of today’s increasingly discerning customers.

“We, at Hino South Africa, are extremely pleased to have achieved Platinum Award status in the DSI survey for the fifth consecutive year and at the same time we were informed that the company has continued its long run of success in the quarterly Datatrack customer satisfaction survey,” said Itumeleng Segage, General Manager of Hino SA.

Hino again took top position in the combined scores in the second quarter of 2025, while also topping the tables in the Sales and Service segments of the survey.

The quarterly Datatrack surveys, which began in 1986, measures responses from more than 30 000 fleet owners regarding service levels in the three important aspects that influence truck operations, namely sales, service and parts. Scores in these three disciplines are added up to get a combined score.

The Datatrack survey in South Africa currently measures these three customer disciplines with input from operators of six European trucks, four from Japan, one from India and two from China.

“We are very pleased that we remained well above the benchmark of 95% in all categories,” commented Segage. “Our combined score was 98.66, with scores of 99.48 for sales, 99.31 for service and 97.18 for parts.

“Although the market has presented significant challenges, Hino consistently upholds its dedication to excellence. It is for this reason that Hino and its dealer network lay great store by ensuring we have satisfied customers. To this end we make use of Hino’s Motors’ global strategy of ‘Total Support’ which involves building close relationships between the manufacturer, it’s dealers and customers” concluded Segage.
